Ray is one of the original 9 founding members of the Alberta racing club, and has raced carts for 10 years and wagons for over forty years.

His accomplishments include 9 consecutive wins at the Ponoka Stampede, Calgary stampede in 1974, Alberta high points champion 14 times, Red Deer fair twice, and world champion once.

Ray enjoys the competition even when his son Lee is driving in the same heat, which he says makes it hard on Betty and the kids, they don’t know who to cheer for.

Even though Ray is looking at retirement in the next few years he says he will always cherish the friendships and competition that he has enjoyed over the years, and seeing the generations enjoy the sport that he helped start and organize is a great source of pride.
