Louis has been racing for over thirty years driving chuckwagon and chariot. He won the North American Championship in Red Deer in 1980 and 1990 and the Northern World Finals in 2005. Louis won the Highway 43 Club Hi-Point champ seventeen times.  Louie's son Barry and daughter Lorraine have both raced over the years. Passing his knowledge on to two granddaughters, Wanda Hansen and Rhonda Fuller and grandson Adam Hansen found all three winning their rookie chariot title.
