Being part of the Salmond family, Dale grew up with the sport of Chuckwagon racing, and as soon as he was old enough he was on the seat driving. He was the rookie driver in both the EPCCA (Saskatchewan) and APCCA (Alberta). Dale grew up racing in Saskatchewan and has since moved to an acreage west of Olds, AB where he and his wife Lindsay continue to compete in the sport.
