The sport of wagon racing keeps calling Chinney, the horse power, the figure eights and the challenge of running with the best, calls him back every spring and summer. Chinney's driven for many different owners, over the years, Larry Arcand, Lester Woods, Casey Peterson, just to name a few. His ability to get their horses to perform to the best of their abilities is a testament of Chinney's overall talent behind the lines. Chinney has been involved with horses most of his life. He started training and racing standard breds at the age of sixteen. He would have his horses all hooked up and ready to go wanting to be the first done. As a very young boy, his dad Bruce Bremner had Chinney and his brother hooking the tugs on the thoroughbreds, this is where Chinney got his taste for wagon racing. Chinney started out riding in 1980 and continued for many years, including the Calgary Stampede. In 1982, he won the aggregate out riding for Allan Bensmiller. Chinney considers Buddy Bensmiller his mentor, he enjoys hanging out with world champions like Buddy Bensmiller and Keith Woods. In 1986, he started driving pony chuckwagons with Donnie McLauchlan. At his very first show, Chinney was sitting second after the first night, but second was not good enough; he was game planning on how to be first, for day two. He is always looking for another track record! After winning the NWSPCCA aggregate in 1990, Chinney sold his ponies, and decided to race thoroughbred wagons, qualifying for Calgary in 1993. Back in the pony wagon, he was 2007 chuckwagon champion in Olds, Grimshaw, Big Island Lake, finishing second place overall in the Taste The Dust Tour. 2008 dash for cash champion at Lufkin Canadian Pony Chuckwagon Finals, Kikino, Onion Lake, and Elizabeth Settlement. Chinney is a second-generation wagon driver who enjoys competing against his son Layne Bremner. Every summer he enjoys visiting old friends, meeting new people and sitting around telling stories. In the off-season Chinney drives logging trucks.
